ULEARN is a Zoom-integrated, school management platform designed firstly for private bu-shi-ban schools in Taiwan incorporating numerous features to facilitate common, time-consuming tasks, supporting in-person and online classes. Deployed in 2020 by our first client school, it has been used in a production school environment ever since, being used daily by students, teachers, parents, office workers and administrators. In early 2024, we began a major revision of the program to support multiple schools. This multi-school version of ULEARN was deployed in July 2024. Now, we are slowly adding new schools, continually monitoring performance to ensure the quality, stability and reliability of this software. Features

Some of its noteworthy features include the following:

Data security: Each school is allocated its own database which contains all of its school's data. No school is able to access the data for another school.
Zoom library of Zoom licenses to support automatic recording of class sessions, allowing students to make-up missed classes at their convenience without any teacher or office personnel intervention.
No need to cancel or reschedule classes during bad weather. When students are not able to come to class, teachers can conduct classes online.
Ability to quickly review and grade student homework, both written and recorded
Support for parents to easily view students' performance
Tailored functionality: All pages display data and features according to the role of the logged-on user. Teachers, students, parents, office workers, administrators, etc. have access to data and program functionality according to their need.

How It Works

After you sign up, we need to get your school set up, which may take a day. In the signup page, you'll specify a short one-word name for your school that will be used to access your school. So, if you choose "happy", then your school will be known as the "happy" school; you and everyone associated with your school, then, will access your school with the web address https://ulearn.tw/app/happy.

https://ulearn.tw/app/abc shows the startup page for the fictional ABC school.

First, after going to your school's start page (https://ulearn.tw/app/happy), you and all your school's users will need to register by clicking on the "Register" link in the upper, right area of your school page.
After you as the owner or manager of the school register, we will enable Administrator role for your account. This will enable you to manage everything about your school. Then, if you want to enable others to administer your school, you will enable Administrator role for those users after they register. We'll explain later how to do this.

Data Security

Data security is fundamental to the design of ULEARN. We support two types of setup:

Standard Setup: After you sign-up, we will create a database to store your school's data. Each school's data is stored in its own database. All data for your students, guardians, teachers, office workers, courses, classes, etc. including user registration and login information is stored in your database. Once someone registers with your school, no one is able to view or access that user's login password, not even the owner and developer of ULEARN. If users forget their login password, the only remedy is for the user to click on "Forgot your password" link at the Login page, and follow the prompts to reset the password. However, because your database is stored on the same host as ULEARN, your data would still be visible to the developer. With Standard Setup we take care of the complicated things, and we maintain the health of your database. However, at this point there is no mechanism to provide you with copies or backups of your database. At some point, we hope to make it possible for you to download and backup your database, but this feature is not yet available.
Customer Provided Database: This setup option provides you with full control of your database. As the owner of your database, you can download and backup your database as often as you wish. Your database is hosted separately from ULEARN on your own server or on a leased server with an account that only you control. You provide us with your database connection string which allows the ULEARN program to access your database. If you choose this approach, you may also want to establish your hosting account with the same hosting provider as ULEARN. This would provide the best possible performance, minimizing the latency between ULEARN and your database. If you host your own database and provide us with the connection string, your data protection is improved, but not invisible to the developer. Some trust is still needed.

Our Promise to You

Honesty and integrity are central to everything about us, and we solemnly promise to do our best to protect your data. We understand how crucial students' names and contact information are to a small school, and we vow to not abuse your trust. Our understanding of the school market in Taiwan is part of the reason we've developed a means to provide very good security for your data.

Trial Period

ULEARN is still in development. Schools and their associated users (administrators, teachers, students, parents, etc.) that sign-up to assist us in testing are given free access use the program so long as the program is actually used. After 14 days of inactivity, school databases may be removed. If you want to use ULEARN, stay in touch with us, providing us with suggestions for improving the program.
